Always use protection

Pastry bags can be a mess to use. I’ve used the cup trick seen here to fill my bag, but my problem is keeping the icing in after I start piping. I look down and realize that all my icing is on my hands. Yay. I have another problem that arises post-decorating: the clean-up. Soaking the pastry bags doesn’t really work and using disposable bags makes me look over my shoulder for the “green police.” What’s a decorator to do? This is something my inexperienced ass just recently ran across and it makes me so damn excited. Karen at Karen’s Cookies solves both of my problems with a technique that can only be described as awesome. Now, I will always practice “safe decorating” and make my pastry bag wrap up.
